Applications are invited from male candidates belonging to
Punjab and Haryana states for the post of Constable (Tradesman) in BSF
on temporary basis, likely to be permanent, in the pay scale of
Rs.3050-75-3950-80-4590 plus usual and admissible allowances to Central
Govt employees from time to time. In addition, Ration allowance,
Medical Assistance, free uniform, free accommodation, free leave pass
etc. are admissible to BSF personnel. The post has all India liability
and selected candidate can be posted any where in India and even
abroad. They will be governed under BSF Act and Rules as well as CCS
Rules. The selected candidates will be governed by the new Contributory
Pension Scheme, which came into effect from 01 Jan’2004.
2. The candidate
would mention/intimate if any Criminal Case is pending/lodged against
him in any Police Station/ Court of Law while appearing for the test.

4. ELIGIBILITY
(a) Age -
Between 18 to 23 years as on Ist Aug’2008. Upper age limit is relaxable
by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
(b)

Institute/Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the

Note: - Men
belonging to hill areas should produce hill area certificate issued by
concerned State Authority at the time of recruitment so that they can
take the benefit of relaxation in height.
(d)
Medical Standards:-
(i)
Vision -Minimum distance vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of both
eyes without corrections ( i.e without wearing glasses)
(ii)
Must pass high grade colour vision test. Must not have knock
knees, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes. Must not be having
any defect/ deformity likely to interfere with the efficient performance
of his duties.
5. ABSORPTION FROM ENROLLED FOLLOWERS
Besides direct recruitment, 20% posts of Constable
(Tradesmen) will also be filled up by way of absorption from amongst
Enrolled Followers in the Force subject to fulfillment of following
conditions, failing which the same will be filled by direct recruitment
from the open market.
(a)
Age below 30 years of age. No further relaxation for SC/ST/OBC.
(b)
Having minimum 3 (Three) years of service as Enrolled Followers;
and
(c)
All other conditions mentioned at Para-4 (b), (c) and (d) above.
6. Physical
Efficiency Test
Physical
efficiency test viz one mile run, 11 Ft Long Jump and 3.5 Ft High Jump.
7. WRITTEN
TEST
Objective type
(General knowledge)-25 marks and Descriptive type, viz; Essay writing,
dictation and mathematics etc-25 Marks.
8. Trade Test
Cobbler :
Polishing of shoes, Handling tools, Cutting of leather, repair and
stitching of shoes.
Tailor : Taking
measurement of persons, Cutting of cloth and stitching of uniforms.
Carpenter : Handling
of tools, Cutting of wood, fitting, Polishing and finishing of
materials.
Draughtsman : Knowledge of
drawing materials, papers, enlargement, sketching and plan drawing etc.
9. Interview:-
To check personal bearing, response,
orientation, general level of intelligence etc.
10. Must qualify the Physical Efficiency
Test, Written Test, Trade Test and Interview.
11. Persons serving
in Govt/Semi Govt departments may send their applications through
proper channel alongwith ‘NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE’ as per format given
in Annexure-I.
12. Wards (sons) of serving/retired BSF personnel may also apply.
Sons of serving BSF personnel may apply either from their home state or
from the state in which his father is posted/deployed at the time of
recruitment. This concession is also applicable for serving Enrolled
Followers of BSF. Wards of deceased BSF personnel will appear for
recruitment at their home states
13. HOW TO
APPLY AND BY WHICH DATE:-
Application in the prescribed format at Annexure-II either type
written or neatly hand written only in HINDI or ENGLISH filled-up on one
side of fullscape plain paper with recent passport size photographs duly
attested by a GO be sent to INSPECTOR GENERAL, FRONTIER HEADQUARTERS,
BORDER SECURITY FORCE, JALANDHAR CANTT (PUNJAB), PIN -144006, so as
to reach not later than 14 Aug’2008 through ordinary post alongwith
following documents:-
a)
Postal order or Demand Draft for Rs. 50/- (for General and OBC
candidates only) payable in favour of Inspector General BSF Punjab
Frontier Jalandhar (State Bank of India BSF Campus Jalandhar Code
No.6596) in case of bank draft, and post office BSF Campus Jalandhar in
case of postal orders.
b)
Attested copies of Certificates/ testimonial as proof of
Educational Qualification, date of birth and Sports.
c)
Attested copy of Caste/Category Certificates for SC/ST/OBC
candidates given by an Officer not below Tehsildar or SDO/SDM etc.
d)
Attested copy of Domicile Certificate issued by an Officer not
below Tehsildar or SDO/SDM etc.
e)
One self addressed envelope of size 23x10 CMs affixed with
postage for Rs. 5/- bearing name and full postal address of the
candidate with Pin code.
f)
A form for issue of Admit Card will be filled in and forwarded
alongwith passport size photographs duly attested by a Gazetted Officer
with seal as per Annexure-III alongwith the application form.
g)
Two years Diploma from Industrial Training Institute in the
trade.
SELECTION PROCESS
Admit card
with roll number and general instructions for appearing for
test/Interview will be issued 15 days prior to the date of
test/Interview to the eligible candidates. They will be called at HQ
Punjab Frontier BSF Jalandhar Cantt (Punjab) to appear for same for
which no TA/DA is admissible. Incomplete applications will be summarily
rejected and no correspondence in this will be entertained.

CANDIDATES ALREADY IN GOVT SERVICE MUST SUBMIT THEIR
APPLICATION THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL WITH THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATE DULY
SIGNED BY THEIR EMPLOYER AGREEING TO RELEASE THEM, IN CASE FINALLY
SELECTED FOR THE POST OF CONSTABLE (TRADESMAN) IN BSF.
